If you're looking for 100's of acres then landwatch. Or are there other ways to find land (public. But other than being careful and doing due diligence landwatch has been a great tool. I used landwatch.com to find my property.
I'm in the stage where i currently homestead vicariously through this sub and other online resources, but www.landwatch.com seems to be a great site for land and such. Even if you don't trust it to find land, you can use it to locate the cheaper areas of each. When a property becomes delinquent in tax payments, the county reclaims the property and auctions.
